Steve Perry, 4th Dan

Steve Perry is a seasoned Shotokan karate practitioner, holding the rank of 4th Dan. His journey in karate spans over three decades, a testament to his unwavering dedication and passion for the martial art. Through countless hours of training refinement, Steve has developed an understanding of Shotokan's technical intricacies and underpinnings. His expertise is invaluable to both aspiring and experienced karateka, as he shares his knowledge and experience to inspire the next generation of martial artists.

Steve obtained:

  • Shodan in Bath, 1999, under Sensei Enoeda 8th Dan.
  • Nidan in Bath, 2004, under Sensei Aoki 8th Dan, Sensei Ohta 6th Dan.
  • Sandan in Guildford, 2008, under Sensei Ueki 9th Dan, Sensei Sato 8th Dan, Sensei Ohta 6th Dan.
  • Yondan at Crawley K2, 2016, under Sensei Osaka 8th Dan, Sensei Imamura 7th Dan, Sensei Ohta 7th Dan.

Ron Duff 2nd Dan

Ron's karate experience covers more than 4 decades. Ron started karate in 1979 when he joined Portsmouth Wado Ryu karate club, where he obtained 6th Kyu. He then joined Waterlooville karate club which at the time was a KUGB club. Ron graded to 5th kyu and due to a house move Ron left Waterlooville karate club and joined Winchester karate club which a a SEKU club at the time. Ron graded Sho Dan under Sensei Mick Dewey and Sensei Dave Hazard. After a long break from karate Ron re-joined Winchester Karate club but was not happy at the club and joined Hursley karate club in 2024 as he wished to train with Japanese instructors. Ron obtained his coaching qualification in 2024 and graded to Ni Dan in February 2025 under Sensei Ohta 8th Dan, chief instructor JKA England. Ron has trained with many senior instructors including Sensei Tatsuo Suzuki, Sensei Enoeda, Sensei Frank Brenan and Sensei Ohta to name a few. Ron has a wealth of competition experience and is a great asset to Hursley karate club.
